When I searched for a place to stay in Portland for our daughter’s wedding, I wanted something that was spacious enough both for privacy and togetherness, so the many out-of-town relatives could enjoy each other pre and post wedding. I looked for something that wasn’t too far from downtown Portland and the wedding venue, yet far enough away to be in a quiet and safe neighborhood, with ample parking, easy access to and from the airport and great restaurants within walking distance. And I hoped that we would land in a place where the host both catered to our needs yet left us alone to enjoy the house. We found all of this and more at Gary Beckler’s Portland Piedmont Guesthouse: large bedrooms, great communal spaces, fully equipped kitchen, more towels and bedding than you could dream of and even those many incidentals that you thought to pack then forgot. Gary is an amazing host who obviously takes great pride in making his guests feel welcome, so the Portland Piedmont Guesthouse definitely became our home away from home.
