The rent is cheap here for a reason. There is mold in EVERY single apartment but they will make you sign an agreement that states there's no mold in the unit at the time you move in. Literally as soon as the windows are closed for 1 whole day mold spores start popping up everywhere.
The towing company this complex has an agreement with is Retreiver Towing. In the middle of the night last year a tow truck hooked up and tried to tow my car from its assigned spot and told me it wasn't their problem If I had just purchased the car and didn't get a new parking sticker same day. The tow truck driver made me pay him $200 to put my car down after he had hooked it up. The management company stood by the tow truck driver and told me I should be grateful they were going their job and "what if someone else was parked in your spot?"...no one else was in my spot and no one reported my car being parked in a wrong spot. That tow truck driver told me he was looking for something out of place "so he could put food on his table"...so he decides to take food off my table so he could out it on his own. Completely disgusting excuse for a human being (Brad from Retreiver Towing).
Upon moving out we deep cleaned...more than deep cleaned knowing this management company was going to put us through the ringer. We had the carpets shampoo'd, completed and paid for a complete mold treatment to remove all mold and scrubbed that place from top to bottom. They still took over $350 for "cleaning expenses"... which we will be arguing for what I am sure is to no end because the owners of this establishment are crooked theives making money any where they can.
Also...if you have more than 1 vehicle good luck finding parking. There is 1 assigned parking space and about 16 visiot parking spaces for a complex with over 50 units. When the parking issue was brought up as a concern we were told the apartments were built in the 70's when people had one income households and there is nothing they can do about it so "too bad". I let them know no one lives in that area who is surviving off one income any more for which they had no response.
Many car thefts, mutilple occassions of car break-ins, 2 vehicles had their rims and tires stolen over night and were literally left on bricks like it's East LA.
You might pay a good price for rent here but the living conditions are not worth it whatsoever. This complex also hires drug addicts for their "handy men". I personally witnessed 2 of the employees taking handfuls of prescription pills in the parking lot and were talking about how they could "do the job no later how f***ed up they were"...when I talked to the apartment manager about this I was brushed off and told I must have been mistaken.
If anyone is reading this review and considering Hidden Hills or any other apartments related to or managed under Valleybrook Apartments in Salem take your business elsewhere. This is not a safe, clean or good place to live and the owners will not do anything for you besides take your rent and deposit
