It's nice to fish the pond when it doesn't rain. The bank's are steep and very muddy otherwise. Great hiking trail but you have to pay 30 dollars for a parking pass to park on the property. This is ridiculous for a place that is not that well maintained. I prefer Junction City pond over EE Wilson for all these reasons !
To go here you will need a parking permit to use the parking lots which you can purchase anywhere Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife licenses are sold. Some people park off the side of the main road but I don't recommend it. This is a WWII military training camp ghost town made into a wildlife area. Great place for bird watchers, anglers, archery, hunting, and just exploring the area with a hike down one of the many old military roads. In early summer you can pick cherries or apples. In the late summer blackberries are everywhere along with mosquitos. The only real downside to this place is all the poison oak.
