It’s a fine school until 3rd grade, I mean some of it depends on your teacher because they have a lot of freedom. It doesn’t work to have the same teacher 1-8th grade because if you get a bad teacher yout stuck with them until 8th grade. The field trips are nice that is a good feature of Cedarwood but the academic experience isn’t that challenging. If your kid wants to go to a good highschool and be prepared for it (socially and acedemically) I would recommend a different school. The school is also way overpriced for the limited things & learning experiences that it has. I strongly recommend that you dont send your child here is they have a leaning/attention disorder. They also have very serious bullying issues. The comminunity isn’t very welcoming or understanding at first they may seem nice but after a while you realize that’s not very accurate. This is just my opinion but I very strongly recommend you don’t send your child here.
Our child has been at Cedarwood for 7 years. Every day, she has been, and continues to be excited to go to school, and that is a big indicator for us that it's a great fit. Her main teacher is AMAZING -- clear, challenging, and firm, but also kind, patient, loving, creative, highly engaging, and fun! Other teachers are also true gems. The curriculum develops "the whole child," including STEM, multiple forms of art, daily physical activity, hands-on learning, day and overnight class trips, and so much more. The school community is warm and friendly, and our class (parents and children) have a strong, supportive bond. Waldorf isn't for every child or every family, but for us, Cedarwood is 'home.'
